Verizon LG Lucid Android smartphone to hit store shelves tomorrow

Verizon LG Lucid

A couple of days back, the web was speculating over the release of the Verizon LG Lucid and it turns out that all those rumors were true. In an official announcement, the carrier has confirmed that the device in question will be exclusively made available through Verizon Wireless Communication stores and the official website from March 29, that’s tomorrow.

Meant for first time smartphone users, the affordably priced Lucid comes enclosed in a sleek chassis. It wears a 4-inch multi-touch display reinforced with Corning Gorilla glass that offers clarity even in brightly lit environments. While the 1.2GHz dual core processor and 1GB RAM take care of the multitasking bit on the handset, the support for the carrier’s 4G LTE network should ensure faster internet connectivity. The DLNA certified LG handset sports dual cameras – a 5MP rear facing snapper and a front facing webcam for video conferencing over the web.

Powered by Gingerbread, it can be upgraded to the Android Ice Cream Sandwich mobile platform. The device lets users access applications like messaging, voicemail, camera and phone directly from the lock screen. Its Quick Reply notification function allows for replying to text messages through a pop up screen and the Quick Dialer widget facilitates making calls without launching the phone application. Pre-loaded with the Polaris Office app, the smartphone can also act as a mobile hotspot to share the 4G connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled gadgets.

The Verizon LG Lucid release date and price have been revealed already. It can be picked up for $79.99 (approx. Rs. 4,070) after a $50 mail-in rebate starting tomorrow. The smartphone requires a new two-year customer agreement, Nationwide Talk plan and smartphone data package.
