A 32GB variant of the Asus FonePad, a voice calling compact tablet that is already available in India, has popped up online with a price tag of Rs 17,999 attached to it. Apart from increasing the memory capacity of the slate, Asus has also bestowed the gadget with an improved Intel processor.
The 8GB model of the Asus FonePad priced at Rs 16,000, is powered by a 1.2GHz chipset, but the one in question boasts of employing a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2460 SoC. Apart from the chip and the internal memory, most of the other specifications of the gadget is the same as its sibling. So, prospective customers can expect a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen on the front side. This LED-backlit IPS 10-point panel has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.
As the 32GB Asus FonePad is integrated with a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, it is capable of rendering enhanced-quality graphics too. There’s 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM for smooth navigation, while the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 platform is responsible for providing an intuitive interface. Also, its onboard storage is expandable further by up to 32GB using a microSD card.
And what’s more, the Asus FonePad has been equipped with dual cameras. Potential buyers will find a 3MP auto focus snapper on the rear panel and a 1.2MP webcam perched on the front. A SIM card bay has been carved into its chassis and the slate hides a 4270mAh lithium-polymer battery that has standby time of up to 751 hours. Its talk time is said to be of around 32 hours.
Flipkart is selling the 32GB FonePad for a price of just under Rs 18,000.
