Smeared with a price of Rs. 71,000, the Lenovo ThinkPad Twist has arrived in India almost half a year after it had surfaced in the US. Its mechanism isn’t all that different from the company’s Yoga 13 belonging to the IdeaPad series, even as it hops from laptop mode to tablet and back seamlessly. It moreover takes the form of a tent and its keypad also doubles as stand when needed.
The integrated 12.5-inch display of the device employs IPS technology with an intention to enable wider viewing angles. At the same time, it reproduces pictures and videos, including those taken from the embedded 720p front-facing webcam, at a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. Protecting it from the daily bumps and bruises will be a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.
Although the device comes preloaded with the Windows 8 OS, it should be able to run W8 Pro equally well. It will be seen hiding either one of the two third generation Intel Core processors, namely i5 or i3, clocked at 1.7GHz or 1.8GHz, respectively.
The company has set aside an SSD storage of 24GB and at the same time, the gadget also comprises of an HDD of up to 500GB. Tagging along with the CPU within the magnesium alloy chassis is an Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU in addition to 4GB of DDR3 RAM.
With a weight of approximately 1.6kgs, the convertible tilts towards the heavier side as far as using it as a tablet is concerned. On the brighter side however, it offers a full sized keyboard which turns a blind eye to any minor liquid spillage.
Even though the manufacturer confirms that the Lenovo ThinkPad Twist has officially been released, the device hasn’t struck any online shopping portal as of now. In the meantime, take a look at the mechanisms and properties of the hybrid in the video embedded below.
