The Dell Latitude 10 Essentials enterprise-ready tablet running the latest Windows 8 platform has been introduced, and its price starts at just under $500. It builds up on the success of the standard configuration slate released in October and comes in two different variants. The one with 64GB onboard storage can now be purchased, while the 32GB device will be made available in the coming months.

The Latitude 10 Essentials is said to be apt for schools and small businesses as it claims to offer ease-of-use at an affordable cost. It is compatible with familiar applications and accessories for productivity purposes and can even keep users entertained on the move. The slate in question doesn’t need software licensing and is compliant with most Windows apps. It supports multiple user profiles and also works with Adobe Flash to ensure an improved internet browsing experience.

Its front panel is graced by a 10.1-inch IPS LED 10-finger multi-touch display, reinforced with a Corning Gorilla Glass coating to keep scratches at bay. The device can deliver clear visuals in 1366 X 768p resolution. A 2MP 720p HD front-mounted webcam is accompanied by an 8MP rear-facing camera for enabling buyers to make web video calls and capture videos or still images. This slab is backed by Dell ProSupport for remote troubleshooting as well.

It gains steam from a 1.8GHz Intel Atom processor, while the responsibility of keeping it charged for a long time has been bestowed upon a sealed 30WHr battery. The Wi-Fi- and Bluetooth 4.0-certified device can also be connected to mobile broadband and comes with an optional passive stylus. Complete with Assistive Technology Service and Windows 8 Snap Mode, it sports a USB port as well as an SD card reader to create backup files. An optional productivity dock will also be available for the tablet.
