Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 and JT-B1 release date information has been let out along with the price details of each of the enterprise-grade slates. They take inspiration from the FZ-A1 variant and continue to follow the guidelines that make them rugged enough to take on the outdoor surroundings.

Meant for highly mobile workers, the Toughpad FZ-G1 is a Microsoft-certified device which takes advantage of the latest Windows 8 Pro OS. The sturdy piece of hardware relies on the third generation Intel Core i5-3437U vPro processor which runs at 1.9GHz and can clock in a speed of 2.9GHz with the Intel Turbo Boost technology. Besides customizing it with up to 8GB of RAM, users have the option to integrate an SSD of up to 256GB capacity. A microSDXC card can also be inserted for additional storage.

Rear

The slate has acquired the IP65 and MIL-STD-810G ratings and can withstand drops from a height of about 4 feet. It can operate in extreme temperature conditions as well. Measuring 10.6 x 7.4 x 0.75 inches, the device weighing 2.43lbs, is fitted with a 10.1-inch sunlight-viewable digitizer WUXGA 1920 x 1200p touchscreen of 800nit brightness. The 4G LTE-enabled tablet features Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB connectivity, HDMI support, GPS, wired LAN and more. It can go strong for about 8 hours in a single charge.

Next up is the JT-B1 variant, an Ice Cream Sandwich platform-based slab that is lighter than the aforementioned device as it tips the scales at merely 1.2lbs. Its rugged chassis with dimensions of 8.7 x 5.1 x 0.7 inches, flaunts a 7-inch WSVGA touchscreen of 500nit brightness that can render clear visuals of 1024 x 600p resolution.

The Android tab is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core TI OMAP4460 processor and it tags along 1GB of RAM and 16GB flash memory. A microSDHC expansion slot has been embedded to increase the storage further. The tablet can resist accidental drops from up to 5 feet. The Bluetoot-, Wi-Fi- and 4G LTE-certified device hides a 5720mAh battery under the hood and is equipped with a 13MP primary camera as well as a 1.3MP webcam.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 and JT-B1 will be available in March and February for $2,899 (approx. Rs. 1,58,894) and $1,199 (approx. Rs. 65,720), respectively.
