Huawei Ascend D2 release date is sometime in January, brings a quad core processor

Huawei Ascend D2

The Huawei Ascend D2 release date for China has been confirmed for this month, but the company is yet to announce its global availability details and price. Meant for ‘people seeking smartphone perfection,’ this device brings the Jelly Bean platform, a huge display and a quad core chipset to go with it.

Unveiled at the CES 2013, the Ascend D2 was accompanied by the Ascend Mate and the WP8-based W1 to the show. The device proudly flaunts a 5-inch Super Retina fast-response IPS multi-touch screen with a pixel density of 443ppi. Its display with 1920 x 1080p projection can also play full HD 1080p videos with color precision. And if that’s not enough, it has an anti-scratch coating on top in the form of Corning Gorilla Glass to protect it in case of accidental drops.

Water-resistant

The sturdy device is also apt for outdoor use as it can withstand spills, splashes and dust, thanks to its IPX5 and IPX4 ratings. As for the cameras, the device has been blessed with a powerful 13MP rear snapper featuring a BSI sensor, high ISO sensitivity levels, manual color temperature adjustment control and video recording capability amongst others. A 1.3MP HD front-mounted webcam should take care of video conferencing.

Powered by a 3000mAh battery, the smartphone is deployed with the QPC and ADRX technologies to keep battery consumption in check. The Wi-Fi-enabled handset facilitates swift sharing and works towards delivering multitasking properties with the help of the quad core processor. The K3V2 CPU integrated in it can offer a maximum speed of 1.5GHz. It ships with 2GB of RAM and lets users hoard digital content of up to 32GB capacity.

The phone with dimensions of 140 x 71 x 9.4 millimeters, tips the scales at 170 grams and rides into town on Android Jelly Bean 4.1. It comes splashed in either pure white or crystal blue and sports a micro USB port for connectivity. There’s Bluetooth 4.0 and a 3.5mm headset jack as well. Also, the GPS-certified handset can provide standby time of close to 6 hours in the WCDMA mode.

The Huawei Ascend D2 is coming to China in January itself.
