Modbook Pro

The Modbook Pro, a 13.3-inch Mac-based pen tablet, announced yesterday, flaunts the ability to boot into both OS X and Windows 7 platforms. Utilizing this capability, the slate offers features like Adobe Photoshop, Encore and Premier Pro and Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, amongst others. Moreover, it brags a high-speed processor and a big-size touchscreen.

Presenting 512 levels of pressure dots, the pen tablet’s interface is protected by scratch-resistant ForceGlass. Its air-grade, precision-machined aluminum finish should add to the durability factor. The gadget can be propped up to a 50° level with the sloped-edges and 3D-GripFeet features that reduce the probability of slipping. Furthermore, it delivers up to 7 hours of usage time on a single charge without needing to tag along display adapters, cables or breakout boxes.

“We can’t wait to get the Modbook Pro into the hands of the users we developed it for,” remarked Andreas E. Haas, chief executive officer and chief technology officer, Modbook. “In terms of its design and engineering, the Modbook Pro is not an incremental step but a leaps-and-bounds advance over the Modbook. Its sheer power makes it a lot of fun to use.”

The magnetic pen garage securely holds on to the pen that can be used to write on the 13.3-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen. Its in-built ExoConnect system connects the onboard components to the base system through an external USB port that is concealed within the device. Additionally, the device offers external connectivity via the in-built Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire 800, USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports coupled with an SDXC card slot and an audio in and out line.

The built-in core ingredients of the device include a 2.9GHz Intel dual core i7 processor or 2.5GHz Intel dual core i5 processor, 16GB RAM, a 2.5-inch SATA drive, an Intel HD Graphics 4000 chipset and an 8X SuperDrive DVD burner. Moreover, the device based on the OS X or Windows 7 platform provides access to a host of Mac apps. By employing the OS X’s Boot Camp app, users can load 32-bit or 64-bit MS Windows 7 and convert the slab into a tablet PC.

The Modbook Pro price will be announced in the coming weeks. It will commence shipping throughout the US in early fall.
