PocketBook A7 tablet arrives to compete with Kindle Fire

While the Kindle Fire was enjoying all the admiration for being one of the first eReaders to offer the functions of a tablet, the PocketBook A7 has entered to compete with the Amazon device. This latest entrant dons a 7-inch display which makes it suitable for users who need to access information on the move.

It comes encased in a 14mm plastic chassis and the TFT capacitive touchscreen featuring multiple sensors, renders visuals in 1024 x 600p resolution. The intuitive tab is also embedded with two paging buttons along with the common keys like home, search, menu and back. The white colored device is fueled by the 1GHz TI ОМАР 3621 processor in addition to 512MB RAM and runs the Android 2.3.7 platform.

Besides a 2MP front facing camera for video conferencing, the multimedia-ready PocketBook eReader is integrated with a 0.5W speaker. Additionally, it sports a 3.5mm audio output for connections to external sound equipment. The onboard 4GB flash memory can be expanded up to 32GB with the assistance of a microSD card and the built-in 3300mAh lithium-polymer battery provides power life of about 6.5 hours.

The lightweight Wi-Fi enabled A7 boasts of supporting a wide range of file formats like PDF, EPUB, FB2, TXT, DOC, DOCX, PNG, JPEG, AVI, MP4, MP3 and WAV amongst others. Its microUSB interface facilitates connections to peripherals and offers a transfer speed of about 12MB/s. Some other attributes of the tab include a text to speech function, a pre-loaded collection of about 100 books, access to the Android Market and more.
