The latest member to have been included in the Nook lineup of eReaders is the 8GB Barnes and Noble Nook tablet, a version of the 16GB variant of this slate. Besides introducing a low cost version of its tab, the company has also announced a price cut for its Nook Color eReader, which is now available for $169.
The 8GB slab claims to offer most features of its 16GB sibling. Encased in a sleek chassis with soft touch back design, it tips the scale at 14.1oz. This Nook offering comes equipped with a 1GHz dual core processor and 512MB RAM for faster web browsing and multitasking properties. The Wi-Fi enabled device can cough up the juice for reading time of about 11.5 hours and allows viewing videos for about 9 hours at a stretch. It sports a 7-inch VividView touchscreen and embeds an expansion slot for additional storage.

Besides support for a number of applications including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Flixster and Pandora amongst others, the 8GB Barnes & Noble Nook tablet offers access to over 2.5 million digital books for users in the form of Nook Newsstand, Nook Kids, Nook comics, graphic novels and more. The slate can also be used to view PDF files and lets users pinch, zoom or pan images. And if that’s not enough, it even facilitates social networking from websites like Facebook or via Nook Friends.
The 8GB Barnes & Noble Nook tablet price is tagged at $199 (approx. Rs. 9,800) and it is now available through Barnes & Noble stores and official website. The tablet will soon go up for sale through retailers like Best Buy, Target and Walmart. The Nook Color is available for $169 (approx. Rs. 8,325).
