Amazon Kindle Fire 2 coming this Q3 with enhanced display, says report

Amazon Kindle Fire

Based on the ongoing rumors, fans may be able to get their hands on the long awaited Amazon Kindle Fire 2 this year. With barely a glimpse of this augmented edition, we can expect to see an improved display, amongst its other features.

In comparison to the current version, the upgraded slate will apparently shed its bulky profile with a new ‘thin’ and ‘light’ appearance. It will also tag along an onboard sensor and an enhanced touch panel that will offer a resolution of 1280 x 800p. As pointed out by AllThingsD, the new resolution will not just deliver finer detailing, but it will alter the aspect ratio from 1.71 to 1.60.

With respect to the display’s clarity, its improved resolution will offer a 67 percent increase in the total pixels to deliver 216 PPI. This visually significant change may not hamper the tablet’s thickness or battery life, as it isn’t as extreme as the one made in the case of the 1024 x 768 iPad 2’s upgrade to the latest 2048 x 1536 iPad. With this modification, the slab will be joining the race with Google’s Nexus 7, Toshiba’s Thrive and Acer’s Iconia already offering the same resolution.

The developers will also be designing its pre-installed applications specifically to suit the new resolution. Apart from these enhancements, the company hasn’t leaked out any other details regarding the device. However, customers can expect to find a faster chipset and improved graphics in this latest version.

The Amazon Kindle Fire 2 price and release date details are still under wraps. However, it is expected to commence shipping in Q3 this year.
