The Archos 97 Carbon that belongs to the Elements line of tablets goes on to become the first device from the company that takes a leaf out of the chemistry book. It will come in screen configurations of 7, 8 and 9.7 inches.

The Archos tablet boasts of cramming the latest mobile technology in its slim form factor complete with an aluminum finish. With a thickness of about 0.45 inches, it tips the scale at close to 21.8 ounces. This slab gorges on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform and acquires multitasking properties from a 1GHz processor and 1GB RAM. The front panel is fitted with a clear IPS multi-touch display that not only offers wider viewing angle, but also clarity with vivid colors.

“We wanted to introduce a new series that not only combines affordability with a new slim design, but features the best that Google has to offer. With the Elements series we have done just that. It’s the perfect balance of hardware, software optimization and content through the Google Play ecosystem,” commented Henri Crohas, Archos Founder and CEO.

Armed with a front-mounted webcam as well as a rear-facing snapper, this slate can playback videos of 1080p resolution and even allows users to watch them on big screen HDTVs with the help of the HDMI output. Its 16GB onboard memory can either be expanded using an SDHC card of up to 32GB capacity or a flash drive that can be inserted in the USB port. Needless to say, it allows accessing the Google Play store and tags along various applications and Google Mobile services.

The Archos 97 Carbon price and release date details reveal that it will be made available this month for $249.99 (approx. Rs. 13,870).
