LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series released

LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt The LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series, a portable solution for storage, is now available for purchase. Developed in collaboration with Apple and Intel, the device is first in LaCie’s series of Thunderbolt gadgets and offers a speed of up to 10GB per second.

Designed mainly to be of utility to professional storage users, the device is claimed to offer better data transfers, complete system backup in minutes, and content editing at faster speeds. Also, users can link a number of little big disks to enhance performance.

“The great thing about the LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series is its versatility. No matter which Little Big Disk model you choose, it will serve your most demanding applications with ease and portability. It’s the ultimate in storage technology,” explains Erwan Girard, Professional Business Unit Manager, LaCie.

The storage device features a pair of 2.5-inch drives in a Mac OS RAID configuration and delivers read speeds of over 480MB/s in SSD and up to 190MB/s in HDD. When linked in a daisy chain, the interface capabilities can be maximized and the transfer rates of around 800MB/s are attained. In addition to this, the device is also integrated with a heat sink and a dual cooling fan.

The HDD models for the LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series are now available at Apple retail stores worldwide and also through apple.com. The SDD models will be released in October this year. All products will soon be made available online through LaCie.
