Touting them to be the fastest SSDs currently available in market, Plextor has announced two new storage solutions, the PX-128M2P and the PX-256M2P. Incorporated with True Speed technology, the company has announced them as limited edition gadgets.
True Speed technology by Plextor features exclusive firmware with Instant Restore, Global Wear Leveling and Bad Block Management. Powered by the server grade Marvell 88SS9174 controller chip supporting a SATA III 6GB/s interface, the M2P is also incorporated with Japanese NAND flash by Toshiba.
These drives offers random read and write speeds of up to 70,000 and 65,000 IOPS, respectively. On the other hand, the sequential speeds for the same are 500MB/s and 440MB/s, correspondingly. The company also claims that the speeds are maintained by the device even after regular wear and tear.
The drives have undergone Enterprise Benchmark testing of consumer drives in a Dirty/Steady State to demonstrate sustained read and write performance. Owing to this, the M2P SSDs are also said to be more durable, reliable and capable of enduring long hours of operation and extensive use.
As the names suggest, the Plextor PX-128M2P SSD has a memory capacity of 128GB, while the PX-256M2P SSD of 256GB. Both these drives will begin shipping in late October. The PX-128M2P SSD bears a price tag of $239.99 (approx. Rs. 11,700) and the PX-256M2P SSD can be picked at $449.99 (approx. Rs. 24,500). Statistical details about the limited edition status of these gadgets have not been revealed yet.
