Seagate GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless storage to be released in India

Seagate GoFlex Satellite wireless storage

The Seagate GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless storage device for India negates the need for wired connections or web to increase the storage capacity of mobile devices. Compatible with Wi-Fi based devices, this storage solution is said to be the first battery-powered hard drive.

The 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi enabled storage device connects with mobile gadgets with the help of GoFlex Media app. This application is available at the Apple App Store, iTunes, Android Market and web browsers. The 500GB hard drive employs the lithium polymer battery to offer a stand-by power life of about 25 hours. Also, the Media app helps conserving battery by putting the device on stand-by mode.

“With the growth of the tablet and iPad markets and the larger volumes of high-quality media now being consumed, there is a clear need for access to content that is not plagued with the challenges of streamed video over the Internet. The unfortunate fact is that these popular new mobile devices are hampered by their limited storage capacity while one of their primary functions is that of media consumption,” stated Rajesh Khurana, Country Manager India and SAARC, Seagate Technology.

The wireless hard drive simultaneously displays content on up to three devices. The pre-loaded Media Sync software simplifies transferring content from PCs and Macs to the hard drive. Additionally, the software is configured to transfer files compatible with the handheld device. The storage drive is accompanied with a USB 3.0 cable which is also compliant with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports. Moreover, it is packaged along with car and wall sockets chargers.

The Seagate GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless storage is priced at Rs. 11,500 and will be available by the end of this month.
