Altec Lansing Live 5000 Wi-Fi speaker revealed, streams music from various devices

Altec Lansing Live 5000

The Altec Lansing Live 5000 Wi-Fi speaker that was introduced at the CES 2012 is fashioned to exploit various platforms and devices such as Android, iOS and desktop. The latest offering allows users to seamlessly stream music from several gadgets using the home Wi-Fi network.

Designed in an elegant fashion, the speaker sports a curvature with non-parallel walls which is meant to avoid cross-cancellation of sound waves and yield more natural sound. The device includes two 3-inch mid-range drivers made of Kevlar to produce better vocals and mid-tones while preventing distortion. A smaller footprint along with a higher sensitivity sans ear fatigue can be attributed to the neodymium soft-dome tweeters installed within.

“Now more than ever, there are so many different ways to experience the music we love, and it doesn’t matter if it’s from the cloud, from our individual libraries or even from our friends’ phones. Whether it’s for personal listening or for a party, the Live 5000 is the device that brings your music mosaic and lifestyle together in complete harmony,” reveals Brendon Stead, Co-President, Altec Lansing.

Boasting of a multi-platform, multi-room functionality, the Live 5000 is capable of streaming content from any iOS or Android device as well as the desktop by using the existing 802.11 b/g/n wireless network. This is also accompanied by the Altec Lansing Live Controller app which lets users browse media sources to discover more music. The application can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Android Market, or the official Altec Lansing website.

The Altec Lansing Live 5000 Wi-Fi speaker price is revealed to be $499.95 (approx. Rs. 25,820). It will be made commercially available by early summer this year.
