Ion Piano Apprentice makes it easy to learn the piano on iOS devices

Ion Piano Apprentice Learning to play the piano should now be a whole new do-it-yourself experience with the Piano Apprentice from Ion. The company has developed a device, accompanying it with an app, which will enable users to learn playing the piano on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

The device is a light-keyed piano prototype, equipped with a port for iOS devices like the iPhone, iPad and the iPod touch. The Piano Apprentice app can be downloaded on these Apple gadgets, which will transform it as an instructor for users.

“Piano Apprentice is truly a first-of-its-kind music learning tool for iPad, iPhone or iPod,” explains Wendy Mittelstadt, Product Manager, Ion. “Learning to read and play music has never been easier, more portable or accessible for people of all learning levels than it is with Piano Apprentice.”

While in use, the app on the iOS device displays an audio visual presentation of how to play a selected tune. The corresponding keys on the apprentice light up in synchronization to the tune being played by the application.

This gadget can also be used as a controller for several other apps as well, including GarageBand and more. Also, since it operates via CoreMIDI, it is capable of controlling any CoreMIDI app. Various modes of the app allows aspiring pianists to learn how to read sheet music by highlighting musical notes or play the piano at any selected octave.

The Piano Apprentice can be purchased at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, BJ’s Wholesale Club, or through ionaudio.com. It is available for a price of $99.99 (approx. Rs. 5,002). The app can be downloaded free of cost from the Apple App Store.
