After the Liquid and beTouch, Acer is now ready to label smartphones by its popular range of tablets and the first in line for this is the new Iconia Smart S300. The company describes this as a smartphone which can almost stand in as tablet.

The handset is powered with the Gingerbread 2.3 version of the Android operating system. However, the user interface is customized by Acer with certain enhancements to the original version. It is also claimed to be powered with technology that allows users to experience LED TV quality while on the move.

Acer’s ICONIA Smart is the perfect accessory for both technology enthusiasts and fashion conscious consumers.” commented S. Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India on the growing smartphone market in the country.

The device features a 4.8-inch display with 21:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1024 x 480p. With this, the phone apparently promises a PC-like experience when browsing websites. It also flaunts a six axis motion sensing which is said to improve its multimedia and gaming experience. For capturing memories, the device is incorporated with an 8MP rear and 2MP front facing camera.

Apt for users who like to share, the device comes with Acer’s Clear.fi media sharing system which enables seamless sharing of videos and other such data across the home network as well as social networking sites. The device is embedded with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which makes it capable to providing a panoramic cinema and gaming experience.

The Acer Iconia Smart S300 smartphone can be purchased at leading stores in India for a price of Rs. 28,990.
