Sony introduces new S, E and B Series of Walkman players. The E and S series Walkman players offer more choices for downloading as well as managing music and video collections online. They also support security-enhanced Windows Media Audio (WMA) and non-secure AAC, linear PCM and MP3 music formats, JPEG files for photos, WMV with DRM, AVC (H.264/AVC) Baseline Profile and MPEG-4 video codecs. The entry level B-Series players offer amazing sound at an affordable price.

“Whether the fit and finish, the engineering or the integration of unique technologies, each of these new series has different points of appeal,” said Mitch Li, product manager for Walkman players in the Digital Imaging and Audio Division at Sony Electronics. “These new Walkman players satisfy the need of consumers who don’t want to sacrifice sound quality for the digital music and MP3 experience.”

The format friendly S-series Walkman players diminish all the background noise and improve the overall listening experience, thanks to its integrated active noise cancellation and 13.5mm EX noise canceling headphones. The noise cancellation functionality is further enhanced with its accessory cable. The S-series Walkman players are the first MP3 players to feature Sony’s SensMe Channels function which automatically creates channels that align with a user’s preferences.

The slim S-series Walkman players feature a bright, high-contrast 2-inch QVGA LCD screen with an ultra-quick response time, smooth playback up to 30 frames per second and it also lets you select horizontal or vertical viewing. Personalize it with the 10 pre-installed wallpaper images or with your favorite digital photo. Its battery life offers up to 40 hours of music playback, up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 30 hours of audio playback.

The S-series of Walkman players are available in 4 GB and 8 GB storage capacities. The 4GB NWZ-S736F is priced at $150 (approx Rs. 6,615) while the 8GB NWZ-S738F will cost about $180(approx Rs. 7,936).

The E-series Walkman players are a blend of high-quality video and audio performance. They are also format friendly and you can easily play music from your personal collection, music store downloads and view rights-managed video clips. You can access rights-protected movies and video clips from other media collections as the E-series players support Windows Media Video (WMV) with DRM. The non-DRM files can also be transferred by a simple drag and drop function. The battery life offers up to 45 hours of music playback and up to 8 hours of video playback.

The E-series 4GB NWZ-E436F is dressed in black, red, pink and blue colors and is priced at $100 (approx Rs. 4,411) while the 8GB NWZ-E438F priced at $140 (approx Rs. 6,176) comes in black, red and pink colors.

The entry-level Walkman B-series player offers high-quality sound at an affordable price. It allows easy drag and drop transfer of files and supports Windows Media Audio (WMA) and MP3 codecs. Sporting a stylish design, it comes with an illuminator that pulses with the music whenever the bass button is pressed. It also equips an FM radio and a voice recorder. The battery life offers up to 16 hours of music playback.

The 1 GB NWZ-B133F player is dressed in black, red and blue and costs about $45 (approx Rs. 1,985) while the The NWZ-B135F player has approximately 2GB of internal storage; comes in black, red and pink and will cost about $60 (approx Rs. 2,648).
