Seems Apple has realized the risk of iPod thefts and thus it has patented the anti-theft mechanism in the iPod. Thus, future iPods are expected to carry an added feature of anti-theft mechanism.
The whole idea behind the new mechanism is a stolen iPod and if it is attached to an unauthorized PC, the device will recognize the unknown computer and disable its ability of charging forever.
Till now there is no news about how an iPod will recognize authorized and unauthorized machines. Also, no information is available about if the recovered iPod will charge.
The concept of prevention of iPod theft sound interesting. Lets wait and see what Apple brings for its iPod customers. They might as well include a tracker similar to those used in mobile phones.
