Eliminating all kinds of distortion, the new Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 tries to ensure clear video conferencing in 1080p resolution over Skype. The device launched along with the Logitech Cube, offers to display smooth videos on most computers and promises ‘breathtaking quality.’

This webcam from Logitech not only offers 1080p resolution on the latest version of Skype, but claims to deliver videos in 720p resolution over Windows Live Messenger. And all social butterflies may be delighted to know that the device is deployed with H.264 advanced compression technology. It simplifies uploading high resolution videos as well as pictures of up to 15MP on networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

“People are increasingly relying on video calling to maintain far flung connections. Whether chatting with friends, family or co-workers, they want to be seen at their best through a sharp, high-quality image. The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 can provide just that as the first webcam to offer 1080p video calling, thanks to our collaboration with Skype,” stated Todd Walker, brand manager at Logitech.

Furthermore, the company’s exclusive Fluid Crystal technology makes for smooth video motion and negates choppiness to reproduce sharper pictures with vibrant colors, regardless of the computer being used. Its improved picture quality can be attributed to the Carl Zeiss optics as well as the 20-step auto focus, touted to be the company’s most responsive auto focus to date. And the other important factor of video conferencing, that is, the audio quality is taken care of by the dual microphones that record natural stereo sound. One mic is fitted on either side of the webcam.

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 priced at $99.99 (approx. Rs. 5,270), will debut this month in the U.S. and Europe.
