Nyko Sued Over Wireless Nunchuk by Nintendo

Nintendo, Nyko Nunchuk

Everybody was happy to receive a pretty looking wireless controller, named Wireless Kama Nunchuk from Nyko as it can be used as an alternative to the Nintendo Controller while playing Wii Games.

Now, Nintendo has filed a case against Nyko, the well-known maker and seller of peripherals, on terms of the violation of trademarks and patents held by the maker of the Wii video-game system. Nyko has been sued over the wireless Kama Nunchuk. The name of the controller means a martial-arts weapon made from two sticks connected with a chain.

According to Bloomberg, the filed suit mentions that the Nyko controller “wholly appropriates the novel shape, design, overall appearance and even the color and materials used in the Nintendo Nunchuk controller.”

As two design patents have been infringed, Nintendo is seeking an immediate cease on the production as well as sales of the Nunchuk. Moreover, the video-game maker is also asking for cash compensation.

On the other hand, Nyko spokesperson stated, “We have not knowingly violated anyone’s intellectual property and we’re still examining this.”

Nyko’s wireless solution carries a price tag of $33.99, whereas Nintendo’s first-party wired solution is priced at $19.99.
