Xiaomi Mi 4i will first reach India, then the rest of the world

Xiaomi is giving India the royal treatment as the company has launched a new smartphone called the Mi 4i which is made for the country. The device is basically a stripped down version of the original Mi 4 flagship phone and it retains a lot of its great features with an even lower price of just Rs 12999.

The Xiaomi Mi 4i is an upper mid-range release which falls in the same category as HTC’s Desire 820 and Desire 826 phones as well as Samsung’s Galaxy A7. And clearly it has the upper hand thanks to its attractive retail tag. To achieve this, the company had to exclude the premium metal design found on the original and go for a polycarbonate shell instead.

Despite this, the Xiaomi phone is still very attractive and it also comes in multiple colors. The main highlight of the device is its 5-inch display which is a 1080p FHD panel with Gorilla OGS glass protection. And the bezels surrounding the screen are extremely thin. The driving force behind this handset is an improved Snapdragon 615 octa core processor with a 1.7GHz clock speed.

The cameras are of high quality as well, as the rear snapper is a 13MP f/2.0 sensor from Sony or Samsung, while the front shooter is rated at 5MP with an f/1.8 aperture.
