Oppo R5 Gilded Limited Edition gold smartphone arrives in India

The Oppo R5 Gilded Limited Edition has been made official in India allowing potential customers to get their hands on the premium smartphone. As the name suggests, there will be a small stock of units and the handset will only be available to those who pre-register for it, starting tomorrow.

No specific details of the inventory have been revealed, but the Chinese OEM has only produced 10000 units in total for sale across the globe. Compared to the normal Oppo R5, the Gilded Limited Edition version isn’t much different visually. The only modification here is that the company has added a golden frame instead of the usual silver finish. The rest of the body continues to flaunt the same industrial look.

The Oppo handset is amongst the slimmest device on the market. It measures a mere 4.85mm thick and packs quite a good deal of hardware. Well, the thin design does come with a few drawbacks and they include the exclusion of certain components such as a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot.

The R5 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with the company’s own Color 2.0.1 OS on top. A 5.2-inch 1080p FHD AMOLED panel can be found on the front with a 5MP camera and the rear packs a 13MP shooter. The phone also has an octa core Snapdragon processor doing the heavy lifting on the inside.

Oppo R5 specs:

– Android 4.4 KitKat
– 1.5GHz octa core Snapdragon 615 SOC
– 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage
– 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED touchscreen
– 5MP front camera, 13MP rear shooter
– 4G LTE
– 2000mAh battery
– 155 grams weight
– 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.85 mm dimensions

Clearly, the Oppo R5 Gilded Limited Edition gold smartphone is going to be even harder to get than the OnePlus One and Xioami Mi4. And despite there being a small inventory of handsets, the company has chosen to retain the original price of Rs 29990.
