Nokia 130 feature phone made official in India for Rs 1649

Microsoft has announced that the Nokia 130 feature phone has been officially released in India and it’s also up for grabs for just Rs 1649. If you were to put in a few hundred rupees more, you’d easily get an Android phone or a Firefox device with mere basic features, but there’s a lot that this handset can offer that cheap smartphones can’t.

First and foremost, the Nokia 130 is quite an attractive looking device, despite it being a feature phone and the OEM has made it available in multiple shades, namely red, black and white. And you can expect it to offer a robust design as well, something that a cheap smartphone won’t deliver.

If that’s not enough, the battery life here is great and way more than what even Rs 7000 Android devices can deliver. Since there are no intensive tasks for it to carry, the phone can squeeze out as much as 13 hours of 2G talk time on a single charge of the 1020mAh battery.

Of course, 3G connectivity isn’t onboard, but there’s dual SIM support. Then there’s up to 46 hours of continuous music playback or around 16 hours of videos on the small 1.8-inch QQVGA screen. Microsoft has also thrown in a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB, and an LED flash light on the rear.

There’s FM radio support built-in and the Slam application which makes sharing files over Bluetooth convenient as it requires you to simply bump two phones together. Design-wise, this numeric keypad-touting phone weighs 68.6 grams and is designed around dimensions of 106mm x 45.5mm x 13.9mm.

The Nokia 130 is yet to go on sale via e-commerce websites and should get listed soon.
