Gionee Poineer P2S hits India for Rs 6,499 with dual SIM support

The sub-Rs 10,000 market is getting a lot of attention off late and Gionee’s Pioneer P2S is the latest smartphone to fall in this category. The new handset is an entry-level one sporting basic features enough to provide a smooth Android experience.

The handset is priced at Rs 6,499, which means that it will go up against the widely popular Moto E and other KitKat powered phones such as the Canvas Engage and Unite 2 from Micromax, as well as the X600s from Xolo. The downside here is that the Gionee Poineer P2S runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and there’s no mention of whether it will get updated to version 4.4. The handset is designed with a 4-inch display proffering WVGA 800 x 480p resolution and there’s a VGA camera on the front.

On the rear, the company has fitted a 5MP snapper along with an LED flash. Moving on to the innards, the phone has a 1.3GHz dual core processor from an unknown maker, clubbed together with a measly 512MB of RAM. Storage is the lowest possible, at 4GB, and there’s a microSD card slot onboard that supports up to 32GB. Dual SIM slots are available as well, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The included 1600mAh battery can deliver around 12 hours of talktime or 346 hours of standby.
