Lava Iris X1 follows in Moto E’s footsteps, set to offer KitKat at under Rs 8,000

With an obvious aim of driving people away from the Moto E, Lava yesterday announced its upcoming Iris X1 smartphone. This new device is distinguished by the fact that it will offer the latest version of Android and that too at a price that will stand below the Rs 8,000 mark.

Handsets from this price bracket are very rarely seen bearing the newest software, but it seems competition is pushing OEMs to break new ground every now and then. Just yesterday, Motorola introduced the Moto E which is priced at Rs 6,999 and features a dual core CPU, the Android 4.4 KitKat OS, a 5MP camera and other interesting specifications.

Many important details about the Lava Iris X1 have been left out by the company, but it has indeed revealed that it will bear a 4.5-inch IPS display. Moreover, an 8MP rear camera is also being said to form part of its offerings. Besides, you can expect at least a dual core processor, if not a quad core one to be offered by the smartphone.

The Lava Iris X1 is set to be launched later this week, so stay tuned if you’re interested in going for a sub-Rs 8,000 KitKat smartphone that isn’t the Flipkart-exclusive Moto E.
