Although an official announcement for the Videocon A55 HD has not been made as yet, the phone has broken the cover and arrived in India through some shopping portals. The Videocon handset seems all set to take on the 5-inch quad core phablets introduced in the price-friendly category over the last couple of months.
In order to keep up with its rivals like the Spice CoolPad Mi-515, Lava Iris 504q and Xolo Q700 amongst others, the Videocon A55 HD has decided to employ a chipset with four cores. This chip sprints at a maximum speed of 1.2GHz and can be expected to support a couple of applications at the same time. 1GB of RAM acts as its accomplice and users have 4GB onboard storage to hoard digital content.
If the dual SIM device’s built-in memory proves to be insufficient, prospective customers can make use of its dedicated expansion slot to insert a microSD card of not more than 32GB capacity. The Videocon A55 HD houses a 5-inch screen on the front panel and this 5-point multi-touch OGS display claims to be capable of reproducing visuals in HD resolution.
The front surface is also graced by a 3.2MP snapper to facilitate video conferencing, while the back side plays host to an 8MP camera with a BSI sensor, auto focus and flash. Do we really need to mention that the Videocon A55 HD can record decent-quality videos as well? It treats itself to a generous helping of Jelly Bean and hides a 2000mAh lithium-ion battery in its chassis with dimensions of 72.4 x 143.9 x 10.1 millimeters. It should cough up the juice for talk time of approximately 4 hours on a single charge.
The A55 HD carries a price tag of Rs 13,499, but Homeshop18 has put it up for pre-order for Rs 12,999. It has been listed on some other e-retailers as well, including Flipkart and is slated to start shipping in the fourth week of June.
