After the much-hyped S4, Samsung has now debuted the Galaxy Star in India, which justifying its entry-level status, has gone up on sale at a price of Rs 5,240. The retail value of this most inexpensive smartphone in the company’s profile has been slashed down even further to Rs 4,990 by online shopping thresholds including Flipkart, Saholic and Infibeam.
In spite of being pegged at entry-level, the Samsung Galaxy Star has managed to bag the former version of Android Jelly Bean and a single core chipset that can pick up a clock speed of up to 1GHz. For those who loathe large screens, this device may be an ideal option with a 2.9-inch capacitive display rocking visuals at a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels.
Sadly, this screen isn’t accompanied by a front-mounted webcam. But users will come across features like scene mode, timer, filters, white balance and image editor while employing the rear-facing 2MP camera. Apart from 4GB of internal storage capacity, which can be bumped up to 32GB by inserting a microSD card into the expansion slot, the phone conceals 512MB of system memory.
Additionally, packed within the Galaxy Star weighing a little over 100 grams, is a 1,200mAh battery which should be able to proffer up to 14 hours of talk time or roughly 320 hours of standby.
