LG Optimus G updated version’s release date for Europe announced

The LG Optimus G release date for Europe is confirmed for this month and according to the South Korean manufacturer, the updated version with the Android 4.1.2 OS and new UX features has geared up to enter Sweden, but its price is unclear for now. It will also be launched in select other countries like France, Italy and Germany to name a few.

The Optimus G was introduced in September last year and it was on sale through various carriers in the US. Unlike its previous version which relished Ice Cream Sandwich, the upgraded model runs Jelly Bean to ensure an even more intuitive interface. This platform tags along features like Google Now, Filmstrip View as well as Expandable Notification amongst others. Besides this, the company has tweaked the device with enhanced UX attributes such as QSlide, Safety Care and Privacy Keeper too.

QSlide enables opening more than one window at the same time, but not as side-by-side frames. They appear as transparent screen layers and users can customize their transparency, size and other aspects. This feature works with the smartphone’s integrated video player, browser, calculator, memo and calendar. Safety Care comes in handy during emergencies as it sends the phone’s location to designated people through text messages, while Privacy Keeper hides a caller’s information which can be viewed after swiping the icon.

And if that’s not enough, the flagship handset is fitted with a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus multi-touch screen coated with a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 film to keep scrapes and scratches at bay. It makes the most of the Zerogap Touch technology and renders high definition visuals in 1280 x 720p resolution. It should continue to be powered by a 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and 2GB of RAM. It is integrated with a 2100mAh lithium-polymer battery and is armed with a 13MP rear-facing camera as well as a 1.3MP front-mounted webcam.

As we’ve already said, the updated LG Optimus G will be released in Europe this month itself, but the OEM has not mentioned whether the new version will arrive in the US or not.
