The LG Optimus G Pro release date has been announced after the company made it official through Facebook and the device will toddle into North America, Japan and a few other markets in the second quarter of 2013 and this week itself in South Korea for a price of 968,000 won (approx. Rs. 48,470). It happens to be the first to employ the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor which was showcased recently at the CES.
Unlike any other phone from the South Korean manufacturer in question, the G Pro flaunts a huge full HD IPS screen which provides a multi-touch real estate of 5.5 inches when measured diagonally. It can render visuals in 1920 x 1080p resolution and offers a pixel density of 400ppi. The front panel also has a 2.1MP camera for video conferencing purposes.
Apart from this, a 13MP rear-facing snapper has been added to the mix for capturing full HD 1080p videos. It will gorge on the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 OS and we expect the OEM to roll out the v4.2 OTA update in the future. The quad core Qualcomm chipset integrated into the device should support multiple applications simultaneously as it clocks in a speed of 1.7GHz.
The flagship smartphone comes encased in a form factor with dimensions of 150.2 x 76.1 x 9.4 millimeters and packs in 2GB of RAM. As for the internal storage, the device comes with 32GB memory and it can further be expanded by up to 32GB using a microSD card. This wireless charging-capable phone draws power from a removable battery of 3140mAh capacity.
A number of new and improved UX features have been deployed into the device too. These include Dual Recording for shooting videos using both the front and the rear camera at the same time as well as Virtual Reality Panorama for clicking horizontal or vertical 360-degree shots. The other previously-introduced attributes like QSlide, Live Zooming and QuickMemo amongst others have also been loaded into the smartphone.
