The LG Optimus G Pro release date is out and the much-anticipated phablet that has been hogging the limelight for quite some time, is likely to go official at the end of this month in South Korea. As was rumored, the device does come with a 5.5-inch display, that’s 0.5 inches more than its version which was introduced by the Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo.
The Optimus G Pro indeed appears same as the Galaxy Note 2-lookalike which was leaked less than a week ago. Although both devices sport a similar touchscreen measuring 5.5 inches diagonally, the one in question manages to deliver better-quality visuals in 1920 x 1080p resolution. Considering that it will be made available towards the end of February, it will be present at the upcoming MWC 2013 in Barcelona.
As Phandroid reports, the phone not only is larger than its Japanese version, but also sports some aesthetic differences. Similar to previously released Nexus 4 and its predecessor, the G version, it has a glitter pattern on the rear panel. The smartphone makes use of curved glass as well, to deliver the 2.5D effect.
It seems to come with exactly the same specifications that were already leaked. We are not expecting it to run on anything less than the Android Jelly Bean OS, hopefully the version 4.2 and it should also receive an OTA update as soon as Google plans to launch the next platform. While the IPS display is accompanied by a 2MP webcam, the rear panel accommodates a powerful 13MP snapper.
The device’s internal working will be carried out under the supervision of a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which can clock in a speed of 1.7GHz. Apart from this, prospective users can expect 32GB onboard memory and 2GB of RAM, in addition to an expansion slot for a microSD card of up to 64GB capacity. A 3140mAh battery is responsible for keeping it charged throughout the day.
Global availability details of the LG Optimus G Pro have not been given a mention.
