U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy Axiom price out, up for grabs

U.S. Cellular has divulged the price of the Samsung Galaxy Axiom, which is believed to be a version of the Galaxy S3 Mini. The phone that was leaked sometime ago, has quietly gone up for sale in the US and sets users back by merely $80.

The South Korean manufacturer as well as the carrier in question did not make an official announcement regarding the device’s availability, but the smartphone was spotted on the U.S. Cellular web portal by the guys over at Android Police. The website also confirms that it will support Google Wallet. This phone which resembles the Galaxy S3 adopts a compact form factor with dimensions of 4.79 x 2.51 x 0.47 inches and weighs approximately 4.8oz.

Its front panel is dominated by a 4-inch WVGA TFT multi-touch display of 800 x 480p resolution. But unlike the S3 Mini with takes advantage of the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS, the Galaxy Axiom has been deployed with the Ice Cream Sandwich platform. This Android operating system has been tweaked with the TouchWiz UI to ensure an intuitive and user-friendly interface.

A dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon Krait processor that clocks in a speed of 1.2GHz calls the shots. Featuring 1.85GB internal memory, the smartphone embeds an expansion slot for increasing its storage by up to 32GB using a microSD card. Prospective customers can expect the device to offer relatively fast internet speed as it is compatible with the service provider’s 4G LTE network.

Moreover, the Samsung phone is armed with a 1.3MP camera to facilitate clicking self portraits and making video calls. It even employs a 5MP primary snapper that possesses attributes such as 4x digital zoom, auto focus, LED flash, panorama mode, geo-tagging and more. A 2100mAh lithium-ion battery is responsible for keeping the phone charged for talk time of up to 7 hours and standby time that lasts for about 145 days.

The Samsung Galaxy Axiom carries a price tag that reads at $79.99 (approx. Rs. 4,435) with a two-year customer agreement and qualifying data plans from U.S. Cellular. It can be picked up for $399.99 (approx. Rs. 22,185) without a contract.
