Less than a week after the Sony Xperia U made its debut through Clove, the device has gone live via T-Mobile UK too. The phone is now shipping through the carrier and is available free of charge with qualifying data plans as well as a 24-month contract.
The smartphone belongs to the NXT series from the company and was launched at the MWC in February, earlier this year. It sports a 3.5-inch FWVGA Reality multi-touch display that employs the Mobile Bravia Engine technology, and the rear panel of the device has been fitted with a 5MP camera to facilitate video recording and capturing still shots. A 1GHz dual core processor teams up with 512MB RAM to bestow this phone with multitasking properties.
Moreover, the handset comes with multimedia attributes such as an MP3 player, a video player and FM radio to keep users entertained on the move. The Sony 3D surround sound audio technology and xLoud, deployed in it should work towards enhancing the acoustic experience, even while streaming wireless music using the DLNA connectivity. The device features an illuminated strip towards the base that takes the color of the dominant shade on the screen while users are listening to music or browsing through pictures.
This phone is packaged along with different colored caps and a battery that claims to cough up the juice for talk time of about 6 hours and 30 minutes, at a stretch. The connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi as well as GPRS, and it supports voice activated dialing too.
The Sony Xperia U price and availability details have already been divulged through T-Mobile UK. It can be purchased for free with the monthly plan of £15.50 (approx. Rs. 1,345), along with a two-year user agreement.
