Apple to include a micro dock in iPhone 5?

iPhone 5 Dock Connector

Well, if all the rumors surrounding the Apple iPad 3 and the iPad mini were not enough, here’s another one which says that the tech giant will be incorporating a micro dock in the iPhone 5 and other upcoming devices. All Apple mobile devices including the iPad, iPhone and iPod currently come with a 30-pin connector.

According to Mashable who laid hands on this piece of information via iMore, the 30-pin connector will soon be replaced by a compact one. Apparently, this speculated micro dock will be included in the iPhone 5 as the company is coming up with ways to save up on the internal space to accommodate some other stuff. Although there is no evidence to back this report, it may have some substance to it as the fruity giant is looking forward to offering users some new technology.

The 30-pin dock connector of the iOS devices is larger than the USB ports utilized in mobile gadgets from other companies. But most probably, Apple will continue to include an exclusive connector to maintain control over the accessories which can be used in conjunction with its products. Reportedly, the future contenders are expected to include some enhanced features like 4G network compatibility and bigger battery for an extended power life amongst others. And space is a pre-requisite for accommodating these features.

Apple may have embedded the micro dock in the iPad 3 that is expected to be introduced this year. But the reports hint towards its possible inclusion in the Apple iPhone 5 that may see the light of the day, later this year.
