The HTC Droid DNA which is the newest member of the Droid gang of Verizon Wireless has arrived in markets with the Android 4.1 platform in tow. The phone is available with a two-year contract as well as off-contract with month-to-month data plans.
Equipped with a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset that processes at a maximum speed of 1.5GHz, the device is perfectly compliant with the carrier’s 4G LTE network. Thus, users can expect improved multitasking, smooth navigation as well as relatively fast web browsing speed from it. This CPU is crammed into a sleek chassis that measures 5.55 x 2.78 x 0.38 inches and weighs not more than 5oz.
The handset’s front panel is dominated by a 5-inch Super LCD 3 multi-touch display that claims to render high definition visuals in 1080p resolution. It is also reinforced with a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating for keeping scrapes and scratches at bay. Additionally, the Droid DNA has a front-mounted 2.1MP ultra-wide angle camera which is said to be capable of recording vivid HD 1080p videos even in poorly lit conditions.
Its flip side is embedded with an 8MP auto focus primary snapper featuring single LED flash, HTC ImageChip, a BSI sensor, an f/2.0 aperture lens and the ability to shoot movies of 1080p resolution. The handset supports formats like H264, H263, WMV, AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG, MID, BMP, JPG, PNG and many more. Needless to say, this HTC contender has been integrated with the Beats Audio technology too.
Furthermore, it ships with 2GB of DDR2 RAM and allows users to hoard digital stuff of up to 16GB. The device takes advantage of the Android Jelly Bean operating system as well as HTC Sense 4+ to provide an intuitive user interface. It even hides a non-removable standard 2020mAh lithium-ion battery under the hood to cough up the juice for usage time of close to 12.8 hours at a stretch.
The HTC Droid DNA can now be purchased for a price of $199.99 (approx. Rs. 11,035) with a two-year customer agreement and a smartphone data plan from Verizon Wireless. Its off-contract cost with a monthly data plan is tagged at $599.99 (approx. Rs. 33,110).
