The HTC Droid DNA phone’s Verizon price and release date details have gone official at the event that was hosted yesterday by both companies. The carrier has also decided to conduct a Google Hangout for the device’s unboxing on November 19.
This smartphone will exclusively be available through Verizon Wireless and is now up for pre-order in the US. Users can place their orders through the official carrier website. The product page says that it will start shipping on November 19 and the phone is slated to arrive at company-owned retail stores on November 21.
The HTC handset treats users to the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 platform that boasts of Google Now as well as new and improved gallery, notifications, Voice Search and speech-to-text. Its ability to multitask can be attributed to a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor that works in conjunction with 2GB of DDR2 RAM.
Similar to the J Butterfly, the smartphone’s front panel is graced by a Super LCD 3 multi-touch display spanning 5 inches. It can render visuals in 1080p resolution at 440ppi and has a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 film to keep scratches at bay. Additionally, it is equipped with a front-mounted 2.1MP webcam for video calling purposes and even to record 1080p videos.
Besides the front snapper, the Droid DNA is armed with an 8MP camera with attributes like a BSI sensor, auto focus, automatic flash and the ability to capture high definition movies. HTC VideoPic is also deployed in the device for allowing users to take still shots when recording videos. The Beats Audio-certified handset is even compatible with multiple A/V formats like AAC, AAC+, MID, MP3, WAV, WMA, WAV and MP4 to name a few.
Needless to say, the phone is compliant with the carrier’s 4G LTE network and can share it with 10 other mobile devices using its hotspot function. It comes with built-in Wi-Fi for Internet access as well as NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless data transfer. A 2020mAh lithium-ion battery is responsible for keeping it charged for close to 12.8 hours at a stretch.
The Verizon HTC Droid DNA can be picked up for a price of $199.99 (approx. Rs. 10,995) from November 21 with a two-year customer agreement.
