Dual core Huawei Ascend P1 will be made available in May

Although the Huawei Ascend P1 comes encased in a sleek chassis that’s less than 8mm thin, it packs in a powerful dual core processor to facilitate multitasking on the move. That could be the main reason why the company chooses to call it a device that blends beauty with brains.

The Android Ice Cream Sandwich based Ascend P1 will initially be rolled out in countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia via authorized retailers and operators in May this year. It is expected to set foot in Latin America in June, while it will toddle into the markets of Europe during summer. The smartphone will continue its globetrotting escapade then onwards and will also be made available in certain other regions.

“The global availability of the Ascend P1, which combines smart features and a sexy design, represents a significant milestone for Huawei Device. We are sending strong signals of our intention to transform into a consumer-facing brand and extend our market leadership globally by strengthening our range of flagship products. We are also expanding our sales and distribution channels to move beyond a focus on operators,” quoted Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei Device.

The Huawei handset gets its steam from the 1.5GHz dual core TI OMAP 4460 Cortext-A9 processor and runs the Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform. The Super AMOLED 960 x 540p display is reinforced with Corning Gorilla glass and offers a multi-touch real estate spanning 4.3 inches. Additionally, the multimedia-ready device is equipped with an 8MP BSI camera along with Dolby Mobile 3.0 + 5.1 surround sound technology for improved audio quality.

The Huawei Ascend P1 release date and price are yet to be confirmed.
