The Nokia Lumia 610, a rather medium range device of the Lumia series designed to suit the needs of the youth brigade, will soon be made available in Asia. The phone carries a modest price tag and will make its first appearance in Philippines before the end of this month, followed by Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia in the coming weeks.

This Lumia smartphone will be introduced to other countries in the second quarter of 2012 itself. The device brings the Mango platform to the platter that tags along the social features associated with the Windows Phone OS. The People Hub of the device facilitates instant access to updates from friends as it brings all contacts from social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn as well as mobile and email contacts under a single application.

“The Nokia Lumia 610 will introduce Windows Phone to a new generation of smartphone users, offering something very different to the monochromatic smartphones filling shelves today. PeopleHub, Nokia services and quality apps – coupled with a fast and friendly interface – will make for a great smartphone experience at a great price,” quoted Jo Harlow, Head of Smart Devices at Nokia.

Featuring Wi-Fi and flip-to-silence, this handset also extends support to Xbox Live and offers fast web browsing through Internet Explorer. The company has loaded the 610 with Nokia Maps, Nokia Music and Nokia Transport along with an option to download apps through the Windows Marketplace. The device has been pre-installed with some student- and business-friendly applications like Microsoft Office, OneNote mobile and SkyDrive too. Similar to its other Lumia counterparts, it will be made available in shades of black, cyan, magenta and white.

The Nokia Lumia 610 price is tagged at EUR 189 (approx. Rs. 12,460).
