Virgin Mobile Alcatel One Touch Venture picks a release date and price tag

Alcatel One Touch Venture

Virgin Mobile Alcatel One Touch Venture might sound like a huge name, but the price tag seems to be contrastingly small. The Android powered handset is being promoted by the network carrier as a suitable option for individuals who are trying to upgrade to a smartphone for the first time.

Operating on the Gingerbread mobile platform, the device appears appropriate for users who like a physical typing option along with a virtual one. Accompanying its 2.8-inch touchscreen on the front panel is a QWERTY keypad, the blend of which makes it easier to hit out messages and navigate through the phone’s functions as well. The rear panel is adorned by a 2MP camera and LED flash.

“We’re excited to add this new entry-level Android to the Virgin Mobile lineup. As part of A Higher Calling, we’re bringing customers a number of different options to experience the power of Android while getting only the services they want for a good price. The Venture is a great addition to the Virgin Mobile family for those people looking to purchase a sleek, easy-to-use smartphone at a great price,” commented Mark Lederman, business line director, Virgin Mobile USA.

The Venture’s battery is said to survive talk time of about 229 minutes or standby duration of approximately 300 hours. To enable the storage of multimedia content, the device has been pre-loaded with a 2GB microSD card. But for users who demand more from their handheld gadget, the integrated card can be swapped for another one offering a maximum capacity of 32GB.

The Virgin Mobile Alcatel One Touch Venture price tag reads $99.99 (approx. Rs. 4,990). It will hit the market on March 15.
