Nokia Asha 205 price and release date for India comes to the fore

The Nokia Asha 205 release date for India has been set for December 24 and the Finnish manufacturer has announced the price of this latest basic phone to be under Rs. 3,500. Introduced recently along with its 206 cousin, the device is embedded with a dedicated Facebook button for instant access to the social networking website.

Slam, an exclusive Nokia service deployed in the Asha 205, facilitates sharing content with other compatible devices. It doesn’t require users to pair up their gadgets and can work with any Bluetooth-enabled mobile which may or may not be featuring Slam. The handset can be used to access Facebook for Every Phone app for messaging, group chats, status updates and more. Moreover, this OEM has also collaborated with Idea Cellular to offer free Facebook access for three months.

‘The ultimate social phone’ is fitted with a physical tactile QWERTY keyboard to make it even more easier for people to stay in touch with their friends and loved ones. Besides the aforementioned SNS, the dual SIM device is compatible with multiple other networks such as Twitter, eBuddy Chat and email accounts like Gmail.

The Asha gadget can not only extend support to two SIM cards, but also employs the proprietary EasySwap technology to enable exchanging SIM cards without switching the phone off. Moreover, prospective buyers can install as many as 40 EA games, free of charge and even download applications from the Nokia Store.

Powered by the Series 40 Asha OS, the handset drenched in shades of cyan and orange, is fitted with a 2.4-inch LCD display as well as a 0.3MP rear camera. It runs on GPRS and EDGE mobile networks and ships with 64MB internal storage in addition to an expansion slot for a microSD memory card of up to 32GB capacity. It draws power from a 1020mAh battery.

The Nokia Asha 205 will be up for grabs from December 24 onwards for a retail price of Rs. 3,499.
