Samsung Galaxy Pocket

The affordably priced Samsung Galaxy Pocket featuring a 2.8-inch touchscreen, appears to be pocket-friendly in every sense. This latest addition to the Galaxy portfolio will be made available in the UK towards the end of this month.

Claimed to be a stylish and at the same time very portable option, the tiny smartphone runs the Google Android Gingerbread (2.3) platform. The sleek device’s front panel is dominated by a 2.8-inch multi-touch display and an upgraded TouchWiz user interface adds to its intuitiveness. Besides social networking features, it comes loaded with the cross-platform ChatON messaging service of the company.

“With the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, we are building on the features we know our customers enjoy and get the most out of. This new device adds further breadth to the choice of smartphones we currently offer and provides a smartphone experience for even more customers at an affordable price,” quoted Simon Stanford, Vice President, UK and IRE Telecommunications and Networks Division.

Fueled by an 832MHz processor, this phone comes with 3GB onboard memory along with an expansion slot that extends support to a microSD card of up to 32GB capacity. The multimedia-ready device keeps users entertained on the move as it comes equipped with an MP3 player in addition to a built-in FM radio. The Wi-Fi and HSDPA 3.6 connectivity should ensure speedy internet on the go.

And what’s more, the Samsung Galaxy Pocket is incorporated with a Social Hub that brings Instant Messaging, social network, emails and more into the inbox. Its 2MP rear facing fixed focus camera is said to be capable of capturing QVGA videos at the rate of 15 frames per second. The Bluetooth enabled handset is also embedded with a USB 2.0 port for tethering it to computer systems and peripherals.

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket release date and price have not been mentioned.
