The iPhone 5 media event seems to be steadily approaching as Apple has apparently begun mailing invitations for the occasion. Reports suggesting the supposed release date could just be true and we may witness the newest Apple member on September 12.
Interestingly, the invitation has the number 5 scribbled generously on it with the words ‘It’s almost here’ as the headline. This gives us plenty of room to nail down the moniker of the next generation iDevice, which could most probably be ‘iPhone 5.’ Another gadget dubbed the iPad mini is expected to break cover some time in October after the upcoming handset’s sales catch up. This year sure seems to be important for the Cupertino quarters and its fans.
Talking about the device in question, it is speculated to sport a large display with a high resolution. We might even see a 9-pin dock instead of the 30-pin dock connector. As for the processor, it should be an overclocked and enhanced version of the A5 processor seen in the iPhone 4S. The new smartphone is also said to sport an even and uniform chassis and with a removable back cover, though nothing is confirmed at present.
According to The Verge, the event will go live on the said date at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, a venue where the company has launched many of its products.
Going by the calendar, there’s just about a week left before the iPhone 5 media event goes official on September 12. Just like the former iPhone, the one in question may hit availability status after a week or more.
