It seems like a certain Korean manufacturer is trying to take the limelight off the Samsung Galaxy S III with the introduction of the unanticipated LG Optimus LTE 2. While the device fails to compete with the advanced features of Samsung’s latest contender, it sure holds its ground with some advanced attributes like 2GB RAM and hopefully, a powerful processor to go with it.

LG fans in Korea can look forward to laying hands on the device before the end of this month, but the company has refrained from mentioning the release dates for the rest of the world. It will be made available through three domestic Korean carriers in May. The key feature of this handset is its 2GB of RAM, which is sure to augment the phone’s capability to launch multiple operations at the same time. And although the processor utilized within it has not been given a mention, it should be nothing less than a quad core chipset to support the memory.

Just as expected, this smartphone runs the Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich mobile platform. As the name suggests, the phone extends support to LTE network speeds, ensuring faster internet access and browsing on the move. Like most others from the company, the LTE 2 is draped by a True HD IPS display and a camera that recognizes voice to record videos. It draws power from a 2,150mAh battery that boasts of wireless charging capabilities. The handset is said to be capable of conserving up to 40 percent energy.

The LG Optimus LTE 2 release date and price details are yet to be mentioned. It will hit store shelves in Korea during mid-May.
