iPhone 5 to land on Sprint’s doorstep in mid-October?

iPhone 5 Sprint

With many rumors surfacing based on the launch date of the much awaited iPhone 5, latest speculations seemed to have spiced things up with information stating the handset to be available via Sprint. What’s more, the smartphone is also to debut from Sprint alongside its release from AT&T and Verizon sometime mid-October.

According to Engadget, WSJ has reported the handset to go live on the Sprint network catering to its 52 million subscribers compared to the 106 million on Verizon and 99 million from sprint. Additionally, with the rumor rolling in, Sprint witnessed an incline in its stock price residing at around 10% increase. By joining into the race, the company is expected to offer the smartphone alongside the previous iPhone 4 for the first time.

With not much knowledge on the design and hardware specifications, it’s unclear on how the handset will look and function. Also, contradicting all previous rumors that stated the launch date to be on October 7 or the 14th, the new report from WSJ has really confused things up. Additionally, with Sprint providing phones over CDMA alongside Verizon and AT&T supplying on GSM, more speculations arise whether the iPhone 5 comes supporting both network bands.

The addition of the iPhone 5 to the Sprint network will most certainly put Verizon and AT&T onto the hot pan due to rising competition. Also, on launch possibilities are that the iPhone 4 will feature a drop in its price. Another indication stating the close arrival of the handset is the free give away of the iPhone 3GS from Best Buy.
