The latest to join the league of compact multitouch handsets is the Nokia 700 smartphone running on the Symbian Belle operating system. Extremely light at 96 grams, the device promises a powerful performance through its tiny form factor, reveals the Nokia Conversations blog.

Operating on Symbian Belle, the Nokia 700 is equipped with a 1GHz processor. Powered by a BP-5Z 1080mAh battery, the smartphone offers a talktime of up to 7.3 hours and a standby time of about 465 hours. The 3.2-inch capacitive multitouch ClearBlack AMOLED display of resolution 640 x 360 is fitted with a Corning Gorilla Glass. It comes drenched in various colors such as grey, silver, coral red, peacock blue and purple.

The 5 megapixel camera with built-in LED flash allows recording videos. Its 2GB internal memory can be expanded up to 32GB with the aid of a microSD card. Besides NFC, the device integrates the pentaband radio and HSUPA 3G capabilities. Also, the Wi-Fi enabled phone provides connectivity options through Bluetooth in addition to a high-speed USB 2.0 port and standard 3.5mm AV connector.

Moreover, this Java-based device allows web browsing as it supports HTML 4.1 and Flash Lite 4.0 along with access to Ovi stores like most other Nokia handsets. Employing sensors like ambient light detector, accelerometer and proximity sensor, it claims to be eco-friendly as it does not emit pollutants like PVC, RFR and BFR. With power saving mode, this 100 percent recyclable phone carved out of recycled material, touts to conserve energy.

Priced at EUR 270 (approx. Rs. 17,957) excluding taxes, the Nokia 700 smartphone is slated to hit stores in the third quarter of this year.
