iPhone 4S unlocked version

The iPhone 4S unlocked version is now available in the U.S. through the official Apple website. First announced in November, the locked handset is also available with carriers like AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint.

In an event held on October 4 this year, the iPhone 4S was first introduced along with other highly-anticipated new releases like the iOS 5, Siri, iCloud, and more. But users didn’t seem all that happy with this handset, as earlier speculations also hinted at a brand new iPhone 5, which would have been completely different from the now available refreshed version of the iPhone 4.

Nevertheless, the 4S showed a rapid growth in sales on arrival and thereafter as well. According to statements by Apple, it had attained 4 million sales by the first weekend of its commercial release. Somewhere in the midst of this success, Apple started giving pretty clear hints of making an unlocked version of this much hyped device by November. The official word on this was first seen on the official page for the online purchase of the iPhone.

But there is one condition for the unlocked handset for which Apple has provided no specific reason. The 4S device was designed to be compatible with GSM as well as CDMA networks. However, the unlocked gadget is said to support only GSM carriers, such as AT&T in the U.S. This might come as a disappointment to some, but on the other hand, the unlocked version is a delight to many, especially those who make international trips frequently and others who would like freedom from user agreements.

The iPhone 4S unlocked version price for the 16GB variant is $649, while the 32GB handset can be picked for $749. The 64GB option is available for a price of $849.
