Unlocked 3G iPhone to Sell in Italy, according to Rumors

iPhone, Italy flag If you would like to listen to a new gossip, here is the most obvious iPhone rumor. Yes, you’re right – it’s about the unlocked version. This time, the news is direct from Italy, stating that the unlocked version of 3G iPhone is all set to take off its flight to reach Italy. Luckily, it will hit the shelves without a mandatory two-year contract.

Chief Executive for Telecom Italia Mobile, Franco Bernabe had arranged a meeting with Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs to convince him for selling the unlocked version of the revolutionary mobile phone, leaving behind its usual business model of exclusive carrier service contract.

However, in the initial six months, the iPhone will exclusively be available via Telecom Italia Mobile, in Italy. Later, it can be used with other carriers. If Jobs agrees to the offers, then this would be the first official unlocked version of iPhone in the world. It is good to know that Apple does not want to restrict the mobile phone-cum-iPod to a single carrier.

Apparently, the agreement demands that Apple should roll out the 3G iPhone directly in Italy. The price of the iPhone will be higher as compared to other European countries. There was no additional information revealed.
