Apple to launch 3G iPhone by Mid-Year

Apple iphone Sometime back, we had reported about the 3G iPhone that might be unveiled by Apple in the near future. Here’s an enhancement to the news. A financial analyst, Richard Gardner of Citigroup has announced that Apple will launch the iPhone based on 3G technology within six months.

3G is a high-speed wireless communications standard, which delivers broadband internet capabilities to mobile phones and other mobile devices. The demand for 3G products is increasing in European market.

It is believed that iPhone sales will be comparatively low in March and thus the 3G device would help Apple to reach the target of 10 million iPhone sales by the end of this year.

According to Gardner, “We believe that lack of 3G has been a significant headwind for iPhone in Europe where 3G is already pervasive.” On the other side, 3G is still not deployed in the US. If it is made available, it could boost 3G wireless coverage to 350 major US markets as well as 100 of the largest cities.

Recently, Apple released its 16GB configured iPhone. It seems Apple believes in upgrading its device for consumers to access new functions with ease.
