Huawei 3G Wireless Handset Introduced

Huawei Technologies, China’s leading communications network equipment maker, has announced the launch of its three new music phone models, called the U550, the U121 and the u120.

A slim designed U550 folding phone supports HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, UMTS, EDGE and GSM networks. The handset has touch-sensitive buttons, which enables consumers to listen to music in many different file formats without opening the flip of the mobile. It can also be used as a high-speed modem by plugging into the PC or laptop.

An entry-level phone, the U121 and U120 carries a steel mirror surface. UMTS handsets support Bluetooth and have a music listening function, integrated media player.

The music handsets will sell for less than $100.

In addition to the handsets, Huawei has unveiled two 3G wireless devices, dubbed the E960 and the E870. The E960 is an HSDPA wireless gateway, which can also be used as a mobile USB modem. Under the gateway mode, the device is compatible with a Wi-Fi connection. The 3G wireless phone aims at SMEs and home users. Whereas, the E870 is a HSUPA wireless network card, which supports an ExpressCard/34 slot.
