Earlier this month, rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone coming through Verizon Wireless surfaced and now the official announcement only confirms the same. Though whether it’s arriving exclusively via Verizon cannot be said at present, users can still take advantage of the carrier’s 4G LTE network on their Nexus handset.

All the Android loyalists out there may have been waiting to treat themselves to an Ice Cream Sandwich powered Galaxy Nexus. Though there has been no word on the price or availability, it can be expected ‘later this year’ through Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and at verizonwireless.com. Take the buzz surrounding the handset into consideration and it wouldn’t hurt to run through its specifications to know what it has to offer.

The new OS proffers enhanced multitasking and a web browsing experience complete with the mobile phone’s 1.2GHz dual core processor and 1GB RAM. Much has been said about its Face Unlock feature, so move on to its 4G capabilities that could allow users to download at speeds of around 5Mbps to 12Mbps and upload at speeds of almost 2Mbps to 5Mbps.

The Galaxy Nexus is fitted with a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display that has a 5MP camera on its rear panel, while its front facing one has a specification of 1.3MP for conferences and chats. It smiles on connectivity with the NFC technology, access to the Android Market and support for a number of Google services to enhance the mobile experience.

Those who intend to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 (approx. Rs. 1,993) for monthly access and a smartphone data package starting at $30 (approx. Rs. 1,495) monthly access for 2GB of data.
